John Mahaffey boasts over 25 years of auditing experience, with a significant focus on the not-for-profit sector. His expertise extends to performing audits of indirect cost rates for state highway contractors and assisting in the preparation of incurred cost submissions for federal government contractors. Additionally, John is adept at conducting audits, reviews, compilations, and tax work for real estate developers and investors, showcasing his versatility across various industries.
John graduated magna cum laude from the University of Baltimore in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. His academic excellence laid a strong foundation for his professional career, and he went on to receive his CPA certification in 2000. Further enhancing his credentials, John is also a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), which underscores his proficiency in business valuation.
He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), The National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA), and the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce. These affiliations reflect his commitment to staying at the forefront of industry developments and maintaining high professional standards.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, John is deeply involved in community service. He currently serves as the president of the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County, having previously held the position of treasurer. His leadership in this role highlights his dedication to making a positive impact in his community and supporting initiatives that provide housing solutions to those in need. Through both his professional and volunteer efforts, John continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence and service.
