Owings Mills, MD – August 21, 2017
The Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County’s Board of Directors announced that John Mahaffey, CPA, Principal of Gorfine, Schiller & Gardyn, P.A.’s (GSG) Audit and Accounting Department, has been elected President. As President, Mahaffey serves as Chair of the organization’s Board of Directors, and is also a member of the Finance Committee, which oversees mortgage lending and servicing activities.
Aside from Mahaffey’s board responsibilities, he continues to actively volunteer with the organization and has coordinated firm volunteer outings with his coworkers.
“The organization is thankful to have such a dedicated member,” said Bryan Lyburn, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County. “John started as a board member, and his passion has driven him to take on a higher role. His commitment not only enriches the organization, but it makes a remarkable impact on the community and people we serve.”
Mahaffey has been a proponent of plans to open Carroll County’s first ReStore – a store with building supplies and furniture for resell. “ReStore is an initiative I’ve always been invested in, and Carroll County really needs one,” said Mahaffey. “It’s an opportunity for people to donate supplies, and it will help the organization continue to carry out its mission of placing more people in houses.”
