How GSG’s team recharges

(and sometimes takes a GSG backpack to Machu Picchu)

At GSG, we’re proud of the way our team shows up for clients during busy season—and we’re just as proud of the way they recharge when things slow down. The non-busy season isn’t only a breather; it’s a chance to reset, explore, and come back energized.

A perfect example: Ariana Stormont recently shared an unforgettable trip where she truly took GSG on the road.

“I have been representing GSG all across the Western Hemisphere! I’ve spent the past few days in Peru, and got to wear my GSG backpack to hike Machu Picchu… I’m very grateful for the non-busy season PTO flexibility!!”

We love this for her.

From office to off-the-grid

Ariana’s adventure took her through Peru with stops that were equal parts breathtaking and historically rich. She began in the Sacred Valley, visiting local artisans (including an alpaca farm and weaving demonstration) before exploring ancient Incan sites—complete with temples, storehouses, and ceremonial fountains.

From there, she tackled one of the highlights of the trip: hiking into Machu Picchu. The trek was roughly 7.5 miles and mostly uphill, with plenty of moments along the way to pause for terraces, ruins, and views that don’t feel real until you’re standing in them. The reward came at the Sun Gate—where you get that first iconic glimpse of Machu Picchu—followed by the final stretch down into the citadel (where the GSG backpack photos happened).

Afterward, she returned for more time inside the ruins, getting to explore additional areas and take it all in without the pressure of the hike.

The trip continued on to Cusco—once the capital of the Inca Empire—with stops at stunning landmarks like circular farming terraces, salt mines, and additional ruins along the way.

Why we love stories like this

Busy season is demanding. The work is meaningful and the pace is real. But the ability to take genuine time off afterward—to travel, spend time with family, chase a bucket-list hike, or just rest—is part of what helps people thrive long-term.

Ariana’s message was simple: she’s grateful for the flexibility. And we’re grateful for teammates who bring so much energy and joy to the firm—whether that’s in the office or somewhere on a mountain trail.
