If you’re using QuickBooks Desktop 2020, you need to be aware of the service discontinuation policy. This policy affects the availability of add-on services for your desktop product and may require you to upgrade or move to QuickBooks Online.
When does service discontinuation happen?
After May 31, 2023, access to add-on services will be discontinued for Windows. This includes all 2020 versions of QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, and Enterprise Solutions v20.
What does service discontinuation mean?
Service discontinuation means that you won’t be able to access QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Services, Live Support, Online Backup, Online Banking, and other services through the software after May 31, 2023. You also won’t receive critical security updates starting June 1, 2023. If you receive any security updates before this date, be sure to install them.
Products affected by service discontinuation after May 31, 2023:
- QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2020
- QuickBooks Desktop Premier 2020 (General Business, Contractor, Manufacturing & Wholesale, Nonprofit, Professional Services, and Retail)
- QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 20
- QuickBooks Premier Accountant Edition 2020
- QuickBooks Enterprise Accountant 20
- QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2020
Products affected by service discontinuation after October 3, 2023:
- QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 19.0
If you don’t use any of the add-on services, your product will continue to work for you. However, you won’t be able to subscribe to live technical support or any of the other Intuit services that can be integrated with QuickBooks Desktop. Discontinued versions won’t receive the latest security patches and updates.
To continue receiving support and access to add-on services, you may need to upgrade to the latest version of QuickBooks Desktop. This will also ensure that you receive the latest security patches and updates. Alternatively, you can move to QuickBooks Online.
When you move to QuickBooks Online, your QuickBooks Desktop file is left unchanged. You can continue to maintain your books in QuickBooks Desktop while you complete the setup of your QuickBooks Online company.
