In part two of GSG’s two-part career advice and recruiting podcast series, GSG’s Scott Rodgville, continues the conversation with Jenny Estrada and Kelly Wolverton about GSG’s work culture, a day in the life of a young professional at the firm, and much more!
Choosing a future employer requires evaluating a number of a firm’s aspects. It’s difficult balancing a full time career and a family life, and oftentimes, you’re spending most of your time with your coworkers rather than your family throughout the week.
Kelly explains how even as his expectations and demands increased with his position, he was still able to balance his family life. He describes GSG’s management style and the encouragement they provide for employees to develop and excel in their career. Kelly also details a typical day for a young professional in the firm and why his job gives him a feeling of meaning and satisfaction.
GSG is adamant about building meaningful relationships, starting with its employees. It’s important to not only work well together, but to get to know one another on a more personal level. This is done by providing various social gatherings so employees can get to know one another and meet family members. Whether it’s a birthday breakfast, summer Fridays, or happy hours – GSG’s culture has been established.
Jenny discusses how GSG’s culture is what ultimately keeps employees around for so long. This includes working from home, year-round dress down, family events, and much more. She also explains how GSG encourages its employees to get out in the community and volunteer or to use the unique accounting abilities of its employees to sit on the board of a not-for-profit organization – while also allocating time to fulfill those obligations.
